Body Contouring Surgery after Weight Loss
Lifting operations are also possible on the arms, thighs or back. For example, after massive weight loss, it can be useful to tighten the upper arms or thighs.
Such operations are usually combined with liposuction. Even in the case of localized fat deposits, a combination of liposuction and tightening surgery on the upper arm, thigh or even the back can improve the shape.
Surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia. The incisions are discussed in detail beforehand. Excess skin is removed and excess fat is suctioned. The regions are initially numb and swollen, but this improves in the following weeks. Depending on the operation, you will remain outpatient or in hospital for 1 to 2 days.
Initially the skin is swollen and numb. This is normal and improves soon. You will stay in hospital for 1 to 3 days. After the operation you can get up immediately. Compression garments should be worn for about 6 weeks. Sport should be avoided for about 6 weeks. Everyday activities are okay, however.
Acute complications are extremely rare. However, as with any surgical procedure, there are certain risks, such as bleeding, infection or wound healing disorders. An infection with poor healing can result in an unsightly scar, which may require scar correction. Wound healing disorders are more common in smokers. We will discuss the exact risks in detail during the consultation.
