EYES

Droopy eyelids or bags beneath the lower eyelid make you look tired and sad. With aesthetic eyelid correction (blepharoplasty), the eyelids can be corrected. Excess fatty tissue and skin on the upper or lower eyelid are removed. However, an eyelid operation does not correct crow's feet or dark circles under the eyes.

Eyelid surgery can be performed as upper eyelid surgery alone or together with lower eyelids. Combinations with other operations in the face, such as a facelift, are also possible. The treatment of the eyes can also be supplemented with non-invasive measures. The aim is always a natural appearance without any artificial effects. We discuss the ideal procedure together during the consultation.

Surgery

The correction of the upper eyelids can be performed under local anesthesia. For the correction of the lower eyelids or a combined operation of the upper and lower eyelids, we recommend a short anesthesia. The skin incisions are placed in the natural skin folds of the eyelids and are hardly visible later. Excess skin and fatty tissue can thus be easily removed and the skin tightened. For some lower eyelid lifts you may need some additional fatty tissue from other regions of the body.

After Surgery

The eyelids feel a little tense on the first day. Cooling helps a little. Keep your eyes rather closed on the day of the operation to reduce swelling. Eye drops reduce the swelling in the eye. The upper eyelids are swollen for about 7 to 10 days. In the lower eyelids, the swelling may last longer. The stitches are removed after 5 to 7 days. Make-up can then be used again. Bruises can remain for 2 to 3 weeks, depending on your tendency. During the first weeks your eyes may tear more and may be sensitive to light. During the first two weeks, heavy physical work, sports and sauna should be avoided. Contact lenses should not be used for two to three weeks.

Risks

Acute complications are extremely rare. However, as with any surgical procedure, there are certain risks, such as bleeding, infection or wound healing disorders. The swelling can cause asymmetries, which usually balance out later. You can minimize the risks by not smoking. A rare complication on the lower eyelid is the ectropion. Usually such a drooping eyelid will reattach itself. We will discuss the exact risks in detail during the consultation.

Costs

We will discuss the costs in a personal consultation.
